Once upon a time, in a wealthy household, there was a female servant who was extremely lazy. While others worked hard in the fields, she always found a corner to nap. She was also very untidy; instead of washing clothes or cleaning, she just sat there scratching herself all day.
The master often scolded her, but she did not change. One day, she complained: "I wish I could live in the forest and do nothing but swing from trees and eat fruit." Suddenly, her wish came true, but with a terrible price.
Her body began to shrink and hunch over. Fur grew all over her skin, covering her body. Her face became wrinkled. She had transformed into a monkey.
The furious landlord saw the strange creature and chased it away with a hot stick, hitting its bottom. That is why monkeys today have red bottoms.
The lazy servant ran into the forest. Although she was now free from chores, she had no home and no cooked food. She retained her old habit of scratching her itchy skin and chattering noisily. To this day, monkeys still look somewhat human but live a wild life as a punishment for laziness.
Value of Labor (Giá trị lao động): The story teaches that labor makes us human. Laziness and the desire for a life without work lead to the loss of human dignity (turning into an animal).
Origin Traits (Đặc điểm loài vật): It humorously explains the monkey's physical traits: the red bottom (from being beaten) and the habit of scratching (from being untidy).
