Once upon a time, there was a poor girl who lived with her sick mother in a small hut. Her mother fell gravely ill, and no medicine could cure her. The girl was very filial; she worked day and night to buy food and medicine, but her mother's health worsened.
One day, desperate to save her mother, the girl wandered into the forest to find a famous healer. On the way, she stopped at an ancient temple to pray. Suddenly, an old monk appeared. He told her: "Your devotion has moved Heaven. Go to the old banyan tree in the forest. You will find a white flower there. Pick it and bring it home."
The monk explained: "The number of petals on the flower represents the number of years your mother will live." The girl rushed to the tree and found a beautiful white flower. However, when she counted, her heart sank. The flower only had five petals. "Five years? Is that all?" she cried.
She could not accept this destiny. She thought of a plan. With trembling hands, she carefully tore each petal into many tiny, thin strips. From five petals, the flower suddenly had countless petals, so many that no one could count them anymore.
She brought the flower home. Thanks to this miracle, her mother recovered and lived a very long life. The flower was named the "White Chrysanthemum." Since then, it has become a symbol of longevity and the deep love of children for their parents.
