One day, a fierce tiger walked out of the jungle. He saw a farmer and a buffalo working in the field. The tiger was curious. He wondered why such a large and powerful buffalo would obey a small human.
When the farmer took a break, the tiger approached the buffalo and asked: "Why do you serve that small man? You are much stronger!" The buffalo whispered: "He is small, but he has something called Wisdom."
The tiger went to the farmer and demanded: "Show me your wisdom! If not, I will eat you." The farmer calmly replied: "I left my wisdom at home. I can go fetch it for you, but I am afraid you will eat my buffalo while I am gone. Will you let me tie you to this tree for safety?"
Eager to see the wisdom, the tiger agreed. The farmer tied the tiger tightly with ropes. Then, he gathered dry straw, set it on fire, and shouted: "Here is my wisdom! My wisdom is here!"
The tiger roared in pain as the fire burned him. Finally, the ropes burned through and the tiger escaped into the forest, but his skin was permanently marked with black stripes. The buffalo found this so funny that he laughed until he hit his mouth on a rock and lost all his upper teeth.
